How you could improve
  • Not go over our budget of $30.
I went well as I didn’t go over the budget at $17.00
I bought a lot of fabric and have left over, maybe for next time.
  • Making a pillow that’s unique.
I think I did a good job at doing this as my pillow was black and had a distinctive design, while others in my class had bright colours their pillow.
I could have made my pillow more unique by making it a different shape like a circle, rather than a rectangle.
  • Good quality pillow that doesn’t fall apart.
Excellent, quality is the word that describes my pillow, it is sewn strongly, the beads are well sewed on, the appliqué doesn’t fall off and much more.
I could have improved by doing blanket stich around the appliqué to make it stronger than it already is.
  • Time management
I used my time well as I finished on the last lesson we had.
There was a number of ways of making my pillow easier, but you always learn from the first time.
  • made from recycled materials
No recycled materials were used in this project.
The project could have had a bit more thought to it.
  • a comfortable pillow
My pillow is not really a pillow for sleeping on as it’s very small, smaller than I imagined it to be and has beading on it which is made for decoration. It will sit on the bed with a bunch of other pillows. It looks O.K.
I could improve by making my pillow bigger and instead of beading I could do something fancy like machine embroidery.
  • two or more design techniques
I did 3 decorative techniques appliqué, beading and using the fabric crayons which I enjoyed.
I could have done even more techniques by doing blanket stich around the appliqué or even beading in other colours.

Design Process
This took a lot of time and I had many ideas which I put down on paper. I decided to go ahead with the Rock band design because it was different and I wanted to give it to my brother as a gift.
How well you did
I did very well. My design turned out just the way I had planned it and even better when it came together. I felt so proud of my work and received many comments from classmates.
How you could improve
I wasn’t expecting the pillow to turn out so small. I should have taken more care when drawing up the initial measurements. I have learned from my mistake and will be attempting to make another one.
